This is a classic brass Turkish samovar manufactured in the Karasu region of Turkey in the late 1800s. It is beautifully crested with a number of award winning stamps. In working condition.
Made of brass and all original. It has wooden handles and knobs. Some of the engraving reads "Yrpan Kirimli", "Seyit Omer Karasu", and "Kudret" inside a diamond box.
Samovars have been a symbol of eastern European hospitality,
comfort, and prosperity since their creation in the 18th
century. They were used to make tea or coffee, similar to a
modern day coffee urn. Coal or fuel goes in the heating cylinder
in the center, surrounded by the tea water.
This is a very fine Turkish samovar with a nicely detailed spigot. The body has two handles created
out of wood and brass. There are two wooden knobs on the lid.
This piece has terrific patina, and is in great shape for its
age with expected age appropriate wear.
